In the last few years the number of Indian students going abroad for higher education is rising day by day. A large chunk of students travel abroad to find a degree in an array of educational streams, management, technology, medicine, fine arts, information technology, amongst others. The charm of getting a foreign degree assumes significance as it not only equips a student with the relevant skills and training but it also enhances one's experience by exposing these students to a worldwide culture.

And obtaining a foreign degree or a diploma is growing a lot more available today. This is due to the fact that nations have opened up special departments and cells in India itself to give full help to the budding professionals in fulfilling their educational fantasy. These departments - many of these working under the aegis of their respective embassies - are providing valuable assistance regarding entrance, visa and alive. Not only this, the number of overseas destinations where pupils can go in for higher studies have increased manifolds in the last five decades or so. And with educational loans easily available pupils are making a beeline to study at the school and college of their choice.

Although, the US and the UK are still the favorites followed by Australia, France and Ger many, many more destinations have joined the rankings. We supply you with a listing of some sought after instruction destinations.

Students can source information regarding education in the United States from the United States Educational Foundation in India commonly called USEFI. Entry Tests for the US: Most American colleges and universities require scores from one or more of the standardised admission tests. Students may visit individual college websites for information on admission requirements. A few institutions may accept scores from additional English language assessments.

Students aspiring to pursue undergraduate studies in the USA will be required by the universities to take the SAT Reasoning Test and the SAT Subject Tests.
In addition, there are a couple different tests that students may take, depending on their condition.

The United Kingdom
The most popular undergraduate qualifications would be the Bachelor's levels (also referred to as undergraduate or first levels), that are currently required for entry into a wide variety of careers in the united kingdom and other nations. British diploma programmes include the most up-to-date topic developments. Many universities and schools now reverted to deliver degree courses, and this has further increased the amount and wide variety of classes and research environments. For Language proficiency one has to take IELTS or International English Language Testing System.

Undergraduate and postgraduate applications are processed via the UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service), a centralised clearing agency. UCAS forms are available on UCAS site. UCAS is working towards a 100% electronic application program, called ucasapply. UCAS Apply is a secure web-based online application system for many students (UK and International). The key message from UCAS is for all international students to proceed as quickly as possible from the conventional paper-based method of application to UCAS Apply electronic program.

Australia
The most recent enrolment data for year to date (YTD), August 2008 reveals that over 80,000 Indian students had enrolled to undertake an Australian qualification in 2008. India is currently the second best source country for Australia's international education market. Many Indian students are studying mostly in the fields of postgraduate research studies. This contrasts with over 500 Indian pupils in the early 1990s and the 10,000 Indian pupil enrolments in 2001.

Canada
The Canadian Education Center (CEC) - INDIA was created in June '95 with support from the government of Canada to offer information and counselling services to students considering studying in Canada. There are 14 CEC offices across the world, providing detailed information on educational courses and training facilities.
